Third Grade

Third grade reinforces the basics of math while introducing concepts like long division, two digit multiplication, algebra, and geometry.  Our regular curriculum includes science, language arts, and social studies.  One of the highlights is making puppets and performing a puppet show.  The students write their own scripts.  This has been a hit with the grandparents on Grandparent's Day.  We also study different types of poetry and put together a poetry book to share.  Many field trips are taken that correlate with our curriculum.  In conjunction with the Physical Education curriculum, the third graders accumulate miles toward their mileage club goal on their cross-country course.  Accelerated Reading is an integral part of the third grade curriculum at HTLS.
